School Syllabus May be Reduced to Half: Indian Minister
India’s Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), Prakash Javadekar, inaugurated ‘Kala Utsav (Festival of Arts)’ at a function at the National Bal Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In his inaugural address, Javadekar said that teachers have the onerous responsibility of identifying and nurturing the talents in the students and encouraging them.

He added that in order to provide enough time to students to develop their talents, the school syllabus is proposed to be reduced by half the present syllabus.
Javadekar said that 26 crore (260 million) students in schools and another 4 crore (40 million) in colleges are our assets and they are our future. He commended the dance and song program at the inaugural function which, according to him, displays the unity in diversity of our nation.
