DHL Services to Help Children in Congo
DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, assisted the Georges Malaika Foundation by delivering four boxes consisting of girl’s uniforms, classroom and computers supplies, and sports equipment for their students free of charge. It was announced Monday, Sept. 9.
Thanks to a joint effort between DHL’s Global Forwarding New York station and both Johannesburg and Kinshasa / Katanga Congo stations, the shipment was delivered August 19 to L’École Georges Malaika School near the city of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.
“GoTeach is one of Deutsche Post DHL’s pillars of corporate responsibility, and we leverage our core competencies in transportation and logistics to support the communities in which we work,” said Matt Macary, DHL Global Forwarding area district manager, New York Metro.
“By partnering with the Georges Malaika Foundation, we are able to assist in the academic development of these young women as future leaders in their country.”
Georges Malaika Foundation donated the school supplies for the girls who attend the school.
Georges Malaika Foundation is a foundation dedicated to the advancement of African communities by providing educational opportunities to young girls, ages 5 to 18, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
